Blackduck
Does anyone know if the road hunting laws have changed? I know they were talking about it, just wondering.
charliepete2
The laws did indeed change. It used to be that you could shoot and retrieve a bird over private land if it orginiated it's flight from the road ditch. Now you can't shoot over public land. If you look on the South Dakota game and fish HSOforum they have the more detailed technical explanation.
Blackduck
"Now you can't shoot over public land." Don't you mean that you can't shoot over PRIVATE land. If that is what you are saying then I think it is the same as last year. You can still road hunt, and shoot birds in the ditch next to private land as long as they are not in flight over that private land. At least that's how we read it and hunted last year. What I was getting at is the fact that I had heard that they were trying to ban road hunting altogether, and I wanted to know if that happened before I go buying a license.
