Pikemaster101
I have a little 14 foot boat and all I use on it is a 28 thrust trolling motor. I have herd of these things that you can tuch to the barrery to see how much juice is left in it. Can anyone tell me about this and how much it cost? Thanks
0 Fisher Dave
Battery energy guage. They used to carry them at most of the larger sporting goods stores in portable units (about 2" square), but I havent seen them for a while. There are in-dash type battery energy guages that are readily available everywhere.. but I am guessing you dont want to put a guage in your boat. If you call around, you should be able to find one of the portable units.keep in mind, you will have to stop all draw to the battery and wait a minute before getting a true reading. 0 Dave
Rather than using a portable battery gauge with LED lights, I've been using a Marcum Technologies BCI100. It has a digital readout that displays the percentage of battery power left. It's very portable, automatically turns on and off and is handy to have. 0 leechlake
I have the guage you are talking about and was trying to find another and couldn't find one. I went to menards or home depot and got an amp/volt meter ( I think that's what it's called) its yeloow and about 2 inches wide and 4 long, set it to 50 amps and read away, I think it was less than $20. 0 Fisher Dave
Dave... the battery energy meter does the exact same thing.. percentage of battery life left.. mine is older.. not digital(needle goes up). I wont rely on the led light versions. The volt meter someone else just came up with will not work for determining the eact charge on a battery.. it will only tell you what the voltage is at... I guess it will tell you accurately when it is completely dead?
