Doop
Anyone ever fish Lake Michigan in the Chicago area? A buddy and I are thinking about trying it out if it's worth the drive. Any ideas?
SuddenlySummer
May to early June is hot for coho's. This time of year I'd go further north into Wisconsin and hit Port Washington or Algoma if you're into salmon. What species are you looking for? TSCTSC
Do you think that a charter is necessary or a guide? Would it be easy for someone to try for Coho alone? Thanks!
SuddenlySummer
Booking a charter will be the easiest option unless you own downriggers, dipsey divers, reels, rods, flys, dodgers, etc.... North Point marina is right on the boarder of WI and IL in Winthrop Harbor . That would be your best bet in the Chicago area. Personally, I'd travel a bit North and hit Port Washington or Algoma or anywhere North of Milwaukee. Dawn and Dusk are when the fish bite so be prepared for an early rise. You can easily get on a charter and be done by 10 or 11 AM.
