Boar
Howdy, Having fished the Red from Grand Forks to Lockport I have only used fresh cut bait ot fresh frozen cut bait in sucker to creek chubs and shiners all work great. Now, I recently found a new spot were me and the kids can catch chubs and shinners from 4 to 8 inches in length, yippeee! Also The bullheads are plentlifull to same length. Has anyone ever used cut bullhead or for that matter live bullhead for channels. I'm freezing chubs for Selkirk in Sept. but would bullheads do too. Later Boar "Get One?" fiskyknut
I have'nt used bullheads cut up, but I have used live ones, Stonecats and Madtoms on the Red and caught some whoppers. September you may wanna rustle up some leopard frogs too as the Cats are usually snappin those up really well then.fiskyknut
Dennis Steele
In my experience, cut bullhead does not produce as well as the oily other cut baits such as chubs, sucker and goldeye. Not saying you shouldn't bring some along....I have caught some nice channel cats on live bullies while targeting flatheads, but I am not sure they will let you over the boarder with live ones.Like Fisky suggested, I'll have plenty of frogs along for our trip up to Cats on the Red in september. Frogs are my favorite fall bait for channel cats!
