LMITOUT Posted June 24, 2005 Share Posted June 24, 2005 The only cranks I need to tune are Reef Runners. Normally after every fish I'll check the tune just to be sure. Afterall, it only takes a few seconds to check and tune if needed, so you might as well be proactive and not wait until you've got 150-200ft of line out. Been there, done that. fishlips Posted June 25, 2005 Share Posted June 25, 2005 I check the tuning often - probably not as often as I should. A tuned crankbait catches a lot more fish as it stays in the fish zone longer. One tip, some cranks have a screw-in line tie, which makes tuning a breeze (just turn the line tie clockwise or counter-clockwise VERY slightly to tune). But on lures with a molded in line tie, you need to physically bend the line tie VERY slightly and carefully in the opposite direction that it is pulling to. Experiment on a junk crank first....
