I have a MinnKota 35# electric anchor that I need a little advice on. This past weekend, the rope caught along side the pulley. I got that out and up, but apparently the switch stayed down for bring the anchor up. Did not realize it till it had overheated and was smoking. Now when I let anchor down or up, (will not come all the way up now) It will not release and a clicking is heard by the battery (fuse?). Is the clutch burned out now or is this unit shot or can it be repaired? Thanx for any insight, Rick

Interesting, the switch for my Minnkota #18 Deckhand requires me to press it to bring the anchor up. When I release, the switch automatically comes out and the anchor does not come up anymore. I have to keep pressing it to bring up the anchor. I thought it was a hassle to have to be there to press it, Bbut I guess there is a reason why the switch is made that way now.

If you have the time, drive down to the service center. A lot of times if they have the parts on stock and the repair isn't real major they won't even charge you.

Thanx for the ideas. I'll find out where they are in Mankato and swing down. The switch has to be held down to bring anchor up, apparently it stuck and I was not aware of it till it was too late. Again thanx, Rick

Rick, Give 'em a call first. They may be able to save you a trip! If you DO need to drive they're at 1531 Madison Ave.(office) in Mankato. If you can find the "Wendys" resturant on Madison Ave.,You can see MinnKota Repairs from that point. So, Have something to eat and find your destination!! These people know their products! They'll go the "extra mile" to help you out and more often than not, for nada! GIVE 'em a call, You may find a NEW friend!

Thats the truth! I have had a trolling motor repaired there a couple of times. The last time it just needed the seals and they went ahead and did it. I have not found a company that stands behind their products the way these people do. It's incredible!
