Long Legged Resort ??

Recommended Posts

Anyone been to this resort located by Ear Falls? If not to this particular resort, anyone know what driving from I-Falls to Ear Falls is like? We're heading up next week and since its the first time, it'd be great to know what to expect.

I have always wanted to fish Long Legged Lake, but for some reason that resort wants to charge twice as much as everybody else in that area....

Anyways, the drive is enjoyable. Paved roads, lots of wildlife, lots of scenery, really gets you in the mood.

I assume you went there to Fish musky??

mainly fishing for walleyes and northerns, I'd like to try for some lake trout, too. My brother-in-law has been there a couple times and loved it so he picked it for this trip. Thanks for the info, I can't wait to hit the road!

winks,

I've fished Long-legged a number of times. If I had to rate all the Canadian lakes I've fished, this one would be at the top without question!!! We used to camp in the woods, but maybe 8-10 years ago a conservation officer told us "no camping, this is Boise Cascade land". We tried the resort but found the prices to be a little steep so we headed back down the road to another lake...haven't been back to LL since. frown.gif

Any how, the road from International Falls to Dryden is ok. The next 2 hours to Ear Falls is rough. The next 100 miles or so it seems down that logging road is pure "H". Normally there are a ton of washout spots and with all this rain I'm sure this year won't be the exception. Just take your time and you'll be in for some of the best fishing of your life!

I'm envious!! Lucky dog!! grin.gif

Winks,

I have stayed at the resort two times the last few years. Like the others said, it is VERY spendy. I think it was $140.00 per day for housekeeping and $200.00+ for American. I am pretty sure they eliminated the camping part and they do check once in awhile. The logging road to get to the lake is REALLY rough! Bring a few extra spare tires! You drive right by some really GOOD lakes on the way to Longlegged. Cedar and Cliff are GREAT musky lakes and ALOT cheaper! Good Luck!

ESOX....

What has your experience been like on Cedar? We are taking a boat out there next week for one day, I heard it was clear not many muskies but lots of big ones???

P.S.....Don't you think if a place charges that much you wouldn't have to drive through an awful road?? what a ripoff!

Brian,

Cedar lake is more of a coffee stained lake. Not as bad as Wabigoon though! It is a GREAT musky lake for numbers and big fish. The lake is relatively easy to fish. It is in the shape of a horseshoe. We have never stayed at a resort, but just put in at the access of the main highway. I think the lake you are talking about being clear, is Cliff lake. This lake is really clear! You are right about the logging road to Longlegged. One time my brother in law was stranded up there because the road was washed out in one place. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like the fishing should be good but the journey may be a little interesting. We're paying $570 a guy for 4 nights, 3 days on the American plan. Leaving on Wed and I can't wait!!

Man I would love to go back to Cedar. That was our family trip when I was a kid. We went there for at least 12 years. Stayed at Cedar Point resort. My brother was a dock boy there for a couple of years. We pulled some really nice eyes out of there. My dad caught a 31" and a 29". I caught a 30" and a 27". My brother buddy caught a 32". There are some big waldos in that lake. I think the natives have netted it pretty heavily since then.

If you are going there to try for muskys I remember people always fishing for them in Time Square. It is a bay directly in front of Cedar Point resort. That lake is great because it is actually 3 lakes in one. You have Perrault(SP) on one end and the other lake escapes me. I want to say red gut or something of that nature.

I wonder if the old fish cleaning house is still there with everyones trophys listed on the walls with the dates they were caught.

Good luck

It is beautiful up there.

Todd
