Timber
I'm looking at buying a 6 hp kicker, either 2 cyl. 2-stroke, or 1-cyl. 4-stroke Johnson. My larger engine is an F30 Yamaha, so I'd like to get the 4-stroke for less weight------no need for a second gas tank. But I have heard the 4-stroke doesn't troll slow enough and it is not very smooth. I will be backtrolling. Anyone have one, and how does it work? Northlander
You should have no problem trolling down a 4 stroke, especially in that size. I know a lot of guys who use a Yamaha T8 and they do wonderfull.
Ely Lake Expert
We have a 15 hp yamaha 4 stroke, that we use as a kicker on our big boat and as the duck boat motor. I think that you will like the small 4 stroke, they idle very low and quiet and make quite the trolling motor.Ryan
