Nice campgrounds near Duluth

I'm taking the family for a week in July and was hoping for some input on campgrounds in Duluth. We will be tenting and would like to be relativly close to town. Thanks everybody.

It's been awhile since I have been there, but Spirit Mountain has a campground.

There is a large place called Lambs that I thought was run very well. When everyone else is full Lambs usually has an opening.

Just South of Tofte on the north shore.

If you go up the scenic route towards Two Harbors you'll see Duluth Tent & Trailer about 4 miles up on the left and Penmallter (sp?) Campground about 10 miles up. We've stayed at both and they are real nice. There is also Wagon Wheel Campground as you get closer to Two Harbors. Haven't stayed here, but it looks nice. If you go to Two Harbors there is Burlington Bay Campground, which is run by the city and is also very nice. It's right across 61 from the golf course.

Jay Cooke State Park has real nice facilities!! There is also a KOA right outside Cloquet that I've heard is decent.

Snowflake has tent sites, I know, but I have no idea what they're like, as I haven't been by there since they took the disc golf stuff down.

It's a bit north of town on Rice Lake Rd.
