Calling All Cub Fans

Recommended Posts

Hey Gene, Gene, Walleye Diver and Las Vegas Tim,

Seen any good ball games lately? Boy did I see a beauty today! Mr. Maddux may be a future hall of famer in the National League but to my beloved Pale Hose, the major league leading, Pale Hose, Mr. Maddux is just more "meat" for the Beast, dead meat that is. Prediction for Saturday and Sunday...PAIN and MORE PAIN...then get the brooms out.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD....YES! Hugs and Kisses, Windy ;-)

I am a die hard twins, but have always rooted for the cubbies, I honestly dont think a baseball game can be watched any other place than wrigley.

Anyways, if baseball was a seven inning game I think the cubs would be undeafeted, their closer(s) "latroy hawkins" etc, have blown more leads than anyone. Cant help but feel bad for their starters.

OK Geno,

You can keep the brooms in check...for now. But we will hook up in 4 weeks at "The Cell" and those stands look mighty dusty, they may need some sweeping. Hey, not a bad game from a minor leaguer with a losing record, eh? I'm talking about our pitcher, not yours, he he. Congrats my friend. Talk to you soon.

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES!

I've travelled (I sound like Backherup) to alot of different ballparks in this country and I definitely don't agree with your quote, as a matter of fact there are alot of stadiums that are far superior... These teams stadiums are great... Orioles, Giants, Braves, Pirates, Rockies, Mariners, Astro's, Rangers, Angels, Tigers etc... I just think alot of people for some reason or another are infatuated with Wrigley and it's losing history... I'm not TRYING to be a smart aleck here, I have been to wrigley three times...sat in the bleachers once and my buddy caught Denny Hockings first pitch home run in an interleague game about five years ago!! we were on ESPN it was great! But it didn't skew what I thought of the outdated place... Who sits in bleachers??? High school football games have bleachers, Volleyball games have bleachers... so do the cubbies... but hey the Jewish national hot dogs that they feed you are tasty!

Curt...

Ok...humbly I admit that the sox have a killer line up...I am just happy to save face with a win. Thank God for Mark Prior! Saturday's game could have gone either way....the sox do play well late in games. Congrats....but we still have 3 more to go.

hey buzz I understand what your saying. I havent been to alot of the "NEW" ball parks, and would love to go to all of them, but work and other things call my name, so I honestly couldnt say if they are any good.

But when you say wrigley is outdated, thats exactly why I like it. Its unique in its own ways, and probably unique just because it flat out is old. I love not having an electronic scorebored, the bleachers, the ivy, its what makes it wrigley. I dont know what it is, but its just the historic factor or something I dont know, but I love it.

I also like that its not full of some corporate advertising like some of the other stadiums. Although I dont know how much longer that will last, I was pretty dissapointed now that they got the billboard behind the plate on the bricks.

Windy, Windy, Windy,

There you go again...like a typical Sox fan - overconfident about the next city series.

And these backhanded compliments/congratulations have got to stop. Keep 'em to yourself if you don't mean them. Who really gives a rats rear how your minor leaguer pitched? Wouldn't you rather have swept and had the kid pitch poorly? I think so.

Rundrave, thats cool, I respect everyones opinion (well almost everyones, but I won't throw out names) I thoroughly enjoyed Wrigley! I can tell you off the top the stadiums I dislike.. Minnesota, Tampa Bay and the White Sox brick hole....

ok since we are on the topics of ballparks I thought I would share this link:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stadiums

its an article written by a guy who toured all 30 mlb ballparks and he wrote a detailed description for all of them, and also developed a rating systems to rate all 30.

I must say the metrodome doesnt rank near the top, but its funny to see what people actually think of all the stadiums. It over a year old but still a good read.

And windy I dont want to hear any comments on how your stadium is higher than the twins, you guys cant fill yours anyway. tongue.gif

As a kid watching the Cubbies, I often would dream about going to Wrigley. The few times I went I was awestruck. Even got Santo's autograph on a program - big thrill for a 10 yr old. Anyway, took my kids at least once a year when they were young and that was great to see them excited to be at Wrigley. Unfortunately, prices have skyrocketed for all sporting events. But the real reason I stopped going is how po'd I would be because when I finally got some good seats, our view was constantly being blocked by the million or so vendors walking in front of us hawking their wares. Real annoying. Now I am content with the much better view on TV.
