Aqua-vu IR

Netman

Question

I'm thinking about buying a used Aqua-vu IR but I know little about this unit or any other underwater viewing system. Should I spend the $150 on this unit? What are the pros and cons? By the way, I have rented a different Aqua-vu model a couple of times. The kids liked it but I wasn't as impressed. I'm not willing to spend more than the $150.

Thanks

If you are talking about the older style Aqua-Vu IR with the large Plastick Viewing shield then that unit hasn't been made for at least 6 years. So there would be no warranty on it. If money is the big issue, why not look into a Scout? They are $199 and being new it would hold a full warranty.

I've looked at those scouts and I'm not impressed. I'd rather get the older unit with the longer camera cable and the big shield. Is that dumb?

I would not use the word "dumb"...However, cameras have mad a lot of advancements as far as technology goes in the last 6 years for sure. In my opinion, the Scout is a MUCH better unit... for only $50 more. And unless you will be using the unit on a down rigger cable, 50 feet of cable is more than enough!
