RowShow
My group and I are changing up our BWCA trip a little this year and are starting out in Canada on French Lake and working our way back south to Moose Lake. Our trip is set for June 28th-July 4th.Since we are newbies for entering the BWCA in Canada, are there multiple bait shops near the French Lake entry point? Or does anyone have any preferences? We are probably looking at just purchasing leeches, but possibly nightcrawlers as well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
DrJ
I'm not sure where your spot is but last year leeches cost $40/lb.We brought a flat of crawlers and a piece of crawler and a 2" power bait on a jig worked great. You must remove ALL the dirt to cross.Layered them in wet newspaper and mixed up some bedding when we got there.Check my post on transporting minnows.I just froze some last year but I'm going to try salting this year.We spent$600 for leeches 2 years ago.Now we're spending less than $200 this year. Hope this helps Good Fishing DrJ.
Long Gray Line
DrJ, where'e you purchase the flat of crawlers? I'm thinking of doing the same for my trip this summer.
Bubbadust
I know Gander Mountain sells flats, but I don't remember for how much. I'm going to look into that for my trip next weekend.
