Tackle storage

Ok, I see all the new gear that everyone has purchased for the upcoming opener. Now my question is. What is everyones favorite method of storage? Hard or soft tackle boxes? I need to get a better method of storing all my "Stuff" and would like to hear your novel approaches. Thanks.

I started using a soft side bag 4 years ago and like it better overall than the hard side. It's more versatile because you can add different plastic boxes and it can hold just about everything if I need it to.

The biggest concern was having it sit in the rain and getting everything wet, but so far it hasn't been as much a problem as first thought.

I'll add another specific question to the topic - what ideas do you have to effectively store plastics. I now have enough to fill a small duffle bag and it has become somewhat unmanageable in terms of keeping them separate -

panfish <> walleye <> smallmouth <> largemouth.

The best I've found so far is a smaller bag - 10x15x6 with a bigger bin in the middle and 4 smaller pockets on the outside. About 8 or 9 pockets of more equal size would be better.

i for one leave my plastic in the original bags and store them in a older worm bag.( kind of like a small duffle bag) dietz and others store thier plastics in the plano type boxes.( we disscuss that topic earlier) i keep most of my tackle in plano 3700's, then mix and match to what i think i will need for the day.

We've been getting alot of requests lately to have permanent tackle hatches installed in boats. Of course this only is practical if you do most of your fishing from one boat, but the guys that use them seem to really like them. They use the same plastic trays as the soft side boxes do, so they can be taken out and set next to your seat or whatever, but they don't have the issues of getting wet or damaged like the soft side boxes sometimes have.

I ws in the same situation and ended up buying a plano 7771 hard side box. It has the removable tackle trays and keeps everything nice & dry. Have fun looking
