0 Fisher Dave
I dont know the anwer to this one.. I thought of this too when considering getting a 24v trolling motor for my boat..There has to be a way... I would think that it would still be 12v coming off a single battery hooked in series, I could be dead wrong. I would put a voltage meter on one of the batteries when the trolling motor is hooked up and running to see what it reads. If your trolling motor has 4 power leads.. seperate positive and negative that go to each(2) batteries, I'm sure it would be fine(still use volt meter to be sure). If the motor requires you to run the batteries in series and only has 2 power leads.. I have no idea.. use volt meter, and if it does say 13.8v I would think it would be safe to hook up as long as there were no contact with the jumper leads for the trolling motor.Anyone else have a good knowlegde of this? 0 Giant_Jackpot
Deep,You can connect the 12 volt motor to one of the batteries but I’m not sure how it would end up affecting the performance of your 24 volt motor since one battery might be a lower voltage than the other. Are the batteries easy to get to? If so, switching them periodically through the day would help balance things out. Maybe send an e-mail to Minn-Kota asking their advice?
