I would start with public land, as at least that would get you out there! Secondly, I would try the landowner/tennant list that should've come with your turkey hunting information booklet in the mail. Third, a plat book will be a must. If you can get in a good area with birds, use the plat book and start knocking on doors. This will help you fill in the gaps.

Unless there's someone here that actually owns the land you may be hunting, chances are you'd be competing with them for the same spot. This is one of the more difficult parts of turkey hunting in Minnesota, and because it can be competetive, I think you'll find few people willing to share their spots. I'm guessing your odds are much better with the above three options. Good luck, and let us know how you do!

My dad and I just went down on my hunt last friday, I CAME SO FLIPPIN' CLOSE TO GETTIN' ONE I THINK I'M GONNA FAINT!!! The first afternoon I had a big tom come down into my valley. Just as I clicked the saftey off, a deer came out of the woods and snorted and stamped. The tom dropped out of strut, ran back to the woods, gobbled one more time and ran up the ridge mad.gifmad.gif. I was just steamin' mad I could've shot the deer wink.gif!!

The next mornin' at about 5:oo I had one gobblin' on the roost. Meanwhile, I was trudging through the woods and scared a hen and a gobbler out of the trees tongue.gif. So, he finally hops down and I give a little yelp, and he come racein' across that field and stopped on a hill to examine the situation. He saw my jake decoy with the hen decoy, and he poofed out into strut. Just as he took his first steps down the hill, some f***** shot at a turkey and he dropped out of strut and ran back where he came from mad.gifmad.gif!! So, I came close twice on that trip. O well. Maybe next year smirk.gif. Good luck to everyone who still has hunts to attend to. Now off to the morels laugh.gif!!
