Muskies - The Following Fish/ recent encounter

Out fishing crappies today. Using waders, about 100 feet from shore (shallow lake). All of the sudden i look down, and there is a 40+ inch muskie staring me right in the eye. He surprised me, so i jumped back a little, he spooked. With no intention of accidently catching, i decide to move. I trot about 100 yards down the lake. As i walk out, the same fish swims right by, stops, then continues on its way. I could tell it was same fish because of the healing wounds on its back. Nice looking fish and a good sign of whats to come. I had the same thing happen on the same lake, but in a boat and the thing followed me from one side of the lake to the other and back again. That was two years ago. Ahhh the not so elusive muskie(?)...

Sounds to me like you encountered the not to often seen muskie mating ritual. Good thing you had waders on……………..
