? re: An Older Abu 6500C

My buddy who scavenges alleys found a nest of old reels and gave me one - it's a solid metal Abu Ambassadeur (not Abu-Garcia) 6500c and I'm curious about it. The casting brake knob has a radial dial around it numbered 1-10, and it has a clicker switch. Anyone got any info or experience with this vintage of reel that they would like to share? I'm thingking about using it as a trolling/channel cat reel.

I might be able to tell you a little more if I seen it.

That model probably has a lifetime warranty to boot.. take it over to Minnetonka outdoors and have Tom go through it if it is. He will clean it up well and make sure its operating flawlessly... Tom would also be able to tell you exactly what you have.

I think one of those might run about $100-$200 depending on the condition. And as fisher dave indicated Minnetonka outdoors will clean it up nice for ya and help you out with value and such.
