They're under a panel that has 4 screws to remove it... that'll give you access to both pumps and valves... I believe waterwolf is correct.. they're just before the step for the front casting deck.

Kevfish,

I have a 1996 ProV DLX myself and my rear well isn't filling, the front works fine. Is the problem with your's where you hear the pump run but it doesn't fill?? I can hear my pump but no water goes into the well, let me know what you find.

Thanks

Ole

Ole,

It sounds to me like you've got a valve that's out of adjustment, not allowing the water to flow into the livewell.. does it fill at all while adjusting the valve to all positions?

That, or the pump is shot... but it seems like when the pumps go they seize.. and that's it.

Good Luck!

I've shifted the fill/empty lever back and forth a few times without much luck, as soon as the ice is out I want to get it into the water to try to figure out what's going on. I also have a auto-bilge pump that wasn't working, you could hear the pump running but no water came out, after I investigated a little bit, I found the impeller on the bilge pump had twisted/broke off the shaft. It was still attached but spinning on the shaft.

Mine just quit working all together. I took it out and shook it a few times ans hooked it up again and it is working now. Or atleast sounds like it is working. I also have experienced the same problem that you are talking about. Sometimes when I turn it on I can hear it by no water is flowing. If i leave it running sometimes it will start to pump and sometimes it does not. I also wiggle the controllers. sometimes that works and sometimes it does not. My guess is that it is air trpped in the line maybe. But it may be do to something else. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?????????

My parents have a 1996 1660 Pro-V and I have found that at times, the line to the livewells get an air-lock in them....Good way to get rid of it I found was to put the control to the "Fill" position, and then back the boat up, as this forces water into the tube. Just a suggestion.

I've heard of the livewells air locking as well... but it's typically the front one.

One thing I'd try before you get on the lake is to force water in the intake with a hose (take the screen off first) and verify that it isn't the valves that's causing the problems. If it works as expected your pump is either getting weak and can't pull the water that far, or the pump getting airlocked is the problem.

If it is airlock try and follow the intake hose (without tearing your floor up) and make sure there aren't any loops or high spots in the hose that would contribute to air locking.

Hey Marine_man,

You sound like you know your way around a lund boat, have you (or someone you know) ever put a baitwell into a 1700 pro v that didn't have one previously? I want to put one in next to the livewell in front and one into the rear deck in back.

Thanks

marine-man,

I guess I don't know for sure but I think there's only one screened intake on the back of the boat. It's currently in storage so I can't just look to see if there's two.

get-the-net:

I've never done it... I know that they're just riveted to the floor above the front or rear livewell and the drain is a thru hull type fitting that is siliconed and then sandwiches the floor of the baitwell with the deck floor.

I think the bigger problem will be running the fill line up to the baitwell... it's usually a real pain in the neck to do anything with the livewell fill lines. You'd have to T it off before it runs to the livewell because the bait well uses the same pump as the livewell.

Now, if you're not too excited about making it look factory you could probably T in a pump somewhere (use either the front or rear intake and T it off from there) then run it's own fill hose to the baitwell and it's own switch.

But.. for the hassle I'd just as soon find a small bait bucket that'll fit in one of the livewells...

So, in a nutshell, yes, it is possible, but no, it won't be easy.
