Tying Cased-Caddis Nymphs

Recommended Posts

I was out on my local stream today and found a whole bunch of cased caddis, the buggers were still in there so they weren't empty shucks, I was looking on the web for a good pattern but no luck. If anybody has a good, simple pattern, it would be greatly appreciated

-If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there would be a shortage of fishing poles

Caddis hatch isn't too far away!!!

I got a shuck stuck on my scud on Monday. Gave it a little squeeze to see the bright green larvae inside...

Search around for peeking caddis recipes, and you should be in luck.

You can't put links up on here but if you type in "cased caddis nymph recipe" in google you will get a few ideas.

Or go into my profile and click on my homepage, it will take you to some sites I am sure you can find a few patterns.

Standard nymph hook, weight it, tie in some fine gold wire, then dub it forward with some dark green/brown dubbing, wrap the rib over that, tie in some chartreuse dubbing (for the caddis itself), then dub a small head with the same body dubbing.
