fly fishing

The little lady bought me a 8 wt. 9 ft. fly rod and i am looking for suggestions on what seems to work the best for large mouth on this set up. I have very linited expeirence with a fly rod.

Wow, are you going to have fun!!!... a couple of ideas... #1 topwater popers, there are a lot of frog type topwaters... A great way to catch largies around cover and in low light situations. #2 they make streamers that are very like plastic worms, a very good alternative! They also make minnow like lures that work well in shallow water.. Best of luck!

Dietz is right go with the poppers and the streamers, you can also try some dark colored wooly buggers crawled along the bottom to act as a crawfish or a leech. Its a blast fishing for and catching bass on a flyrod. Try fishing some rivers for some smallies too if you can, it gets even better with those smallies on the end of the rod. Thanks guys, those are the types of lures I was thinking would be the best. I found the Fly angerlers online web site, wow what a info. packed site. After reding some of it I am starting to put the gear together to try tying my own fies, should be fun and help make the winter months shorter.
