Stream Trout Fishing Season

I was looking to get out and do some fly fishing this weekend, but I wasn't exactly sure if I could fish for trout at this time of the year. I'm pretty sure that stream trout fishing doesn't open until mid-April, but I just wanted to verify this. The river I was looking to fish is up by Park Rapids. Any info people could share would be great!

Looking in the 2005 Minnesota Fishing Regulations, and it doesnt look like any streams in Hubbard or Cass county are open, If you've really got the itch, you can make the long haul to the knife or lester,or any other tributary of the big lake

Streams in S.E. Minnesota will be open the first weekend of April. They are all catch and release only.

The catch and keep season opens the 16th of April state wide.

Just to make sure those lucky few that have Friday off are aware, the catch & release season opens on FRIDAY April 1st.

spaid21 - have you ever fished the stream by park rapids? I've been eyeing that one up myself, wondering what you experience there might be.

Thanks for all of the information everyone. It looks like I'll just have to wait another month to get over there.

d.roy- I went over to the river last fall and walked it a bit, but never actually was able to fish it as it was after the season. I'll likely give it a shot some time this spring.
