Trailer Rim Search

Chapo

Question

I recently purchased an old Sea King boat trailer and converted it to a four-wheeler trailer. The center hole of the eight inch rim is about 3 1/2 inches wide which is wider than standard and the hub tapers out to 3 1/2. I attempted to put standard hubs on the axle but the outer portion of the axle is too short to get the nut on.

Any ideas where I could get a rim like this? I've looked at many places and no luck.

I agree with "mechanictim". Check into updating the whole axle assembly (via an axle kit)at Northern, just to avoid being caught in Kookamunga,USA, with a seized bearing that nobody has ever SEEN before. Montgomery-Wards was notorious for buying the ODD stuff that nobody else would, and then putting their name on it. Plus, your trailer would have bearings, spindles, springs, wheels and tires that are current. All that's left is the bed, They can't really screw that up, too much! You might consider losing the 8" wheel and tires, Go to at least a 12". The 8" rotate about 3 times to every 1 of your tow vehicle. That's A-LOT of revolutions!!! Phred
