BUTTERNUT - near LUCK

Recommended Posts

There are two Butternut Lakes by Luck. Little Butternut and Big Butternut. Big Butternut is right in town and the word recently is they were doing well there on panfish.

We stopped by there Sunday, but it was 9:00 a.m and caught a few, but ended up leaving to go to a better lake.

Big Butternut does have nice fish, from bluegills and crappies to perch, but it's like everything else...ya gotta be there when they're biten.!! If you go there just follow the "yellow brick road...in other words the main trail".

Little Butternut can also be good, but I havent been on it for years now!

My old man lives in that area and I've fished both Big Butternut as well as Little Butternut for years with pretty good success. I've done well ice fishing for gills on both and fished both hard for bass with better success on the big lake in the summer. I've also caught a lot of pike on Little Butternut on hard and soft water. I've never seen any specular fishing in either lake but they are relatively small and easy to fish.

I have fished Big Butternut often in the last 3-4 years with pretty good luck. I ussually get into the Big Perch. I have gotten into some of the Pike also. I will continue going also! I havent been there for about a month or so though.
