CrappieJohn
Awwww, come on Ed, admit it. This chubby ended up this way after you read your hate mail, right? lolI have to assume that you removed the rear hook to improve your hooking percentage? Did you up size the treble though? Ed Carlson
Naaa.. that particular Salmo Chubby Darter belonged to a well known guide on Devils Lake ND. God knows how many pike have chewed on that poor devil along with all them walleyes. I think the rear treble was removed or sprung before he shot the photo? The split ring does not look all too healthy. Pike are tough on them, and DL has many pike per acre.I have a lot of use on many chubby models and very honestly not one of mine looks as whooped on as that poor devil CD-5 does. Sure mine have a few pinholes on them but not nearly as bad as that one. I mean it takes a bit of force to penetrate a skin on a CD-5 or CD-6 Chubby Darter. Their finish is tough and lacquered with many layers of finish. Big pike will still put a hurt on them after a few dozen chew and put a Gaiter death roll on a Chubby.I just got a kick out of that photo when it was passed along to me. Matt Breuer
This Darter was used exclusively on a 3 or 5 day trip on Devils Lake. I read it caught over 150 walleye and some pike if I remember correctly. I agree they are very tough made, I have yet to ding one enough to quit using it! This shows how hard it was getting hit! The treble is gone due to fish, not angler! Chubby's don't catch walleye do they Ed? Nor do Hornets in the Summer...
