RK
Hiya,Is it the same as the old Gorilla Braid? Cuz if it is, it's miserable stuff for casting. Far better lines out there for casting I think. I did use the Gorilla stuff for trolling though. Was super thin diameter - 50# seemed like sewing thread - so you could get baits down a long ways farther than either Ultramax or #36 Dacron. Wish they still made Ultramax. That was great stuff...Cheers,RK
guideman
Has anyone ever tried "Stren Superbraid"? I have read some good things about it, however I don't know anyone that has used it. "Ace"

ARMAN-21
Guideman,I used the Stren SB last year and loved it. I've got 4 reels spooled with it and I also use Tuff Line on 3 other reels. I don't think you can go wrong with the Stren SB, I've had 0 problems with it. It casts great and NO rat-nests. Hope this helps. later-
Big Yellow Bird
I tested the strengths of different fishing line for a school project a couple years ago and Gorilla line was terrible. I can't remember having a knot break, but the line would snap without much pressure.
half2fish
We have used Gorilla line in the past and had nothing but bad luck with it. it seemed to knot up really bad and never seened to cast very smoothly. we like to use tuff line. 50#-80#. Tmeo
wow, some of these post blow my mine 50-80 test. has anyone ever tried salt water line like trilene big game. 30# big game can hold a 50# tuna easy, and casts easy with 3/4 oz plugs.. It's easier to see but tip it with some flourcarbon, and it could fool the shiest fish, the big plus it's cheap...
guideman
Big Game 30# would work for trolling however mono has way to much stretch in it, for casting those large baits we use for Muskies. Not only will it effect the lures action, but it will also have an effect on the quality of your hook set. The "no stretch" braided lines are just much more effective when it comes to casting for Muskies. Thanks for those saltwater tips, I'll try to keep them in mind, the next time I go Tuna fishing. Cooter
Myself, roommate, and brother all used 80lb Stren SB last year for muskies and flatheads - I really liked it.
