Anyone ever use a Buzz Rod?

I saw that Gander Mtn has their Buzz rods in clearance for $19.99 and I was thinking of picking one up for perch fishing? Are they a big gimmick or do they actually work better other rods? I was looking at the 28” medium action model.

REEL ISNT TO BAD.IVE USED NUMEROUS TIMES AND WATCHED WITH THE CAMERA AND IN SHALLOW WATER THE BUZZ DOES WIGGLE OR SPIN YOUR BAIT SOMEWHAT. iN DEEPER WATER COULDNT NOTICE IT MOVING AT ALL. fOR 20 BUCKS, SHOULD BE A O.K. They're decent rods. I don't use the buzz on mine because I bobber fish. I'm sure it works fine when your jig is heavy enough to straighten your line but I tried it with 4# high-vis ice line that has too much memory and it didn't work. Also, if you get one, make sure the little rubber button that holds the battery in stays on well. I've dropped my battery so many times taking my rod out or swtching lures. I ended up just taking it off because the rod is still a good rod and pretty easy to jig just by tapping the base of the fiberglass by the buzzer thing. Just my 2 scents

Great reel nice rod but if your gunna buy it for the jugging its not really a jigger.

Maybe the made the reels better this year.

It's worst the rod a reel system I ever used.

Had one...gave it away. The buzz feature is just a gimmick with no value what so ever, in my opinion. Mine was spooled with the blue mono ice line in 2 pound test. I couldnt make the ice fly/waxy combo move in 12 feet of water.

JJJJ, I would buy a quality rod not a gimmick. I don`t think that we are that lazy to jig a rod. I would buy the St. Croix Legend Ice Rod. They sell for $50. and the best $50. you can spend in your ice equipment in my opinion. I have used this rod (it was sold locally here)for 3 years now. Everyone that has used it has good things to say about it. Good Luck on whatever you choose.

I bought one and the buzz is as useful as a fart in church. It produces good action at like 2 feet ad begins to dwindle to a silly little spin after that. Watching it on the aquavu I was not able to notice any movement but it does spin! I do like the set up though, after tearing the silly vibrating mechanism off I use it with 2lb test for sunnies and it is a pretty good set up. The drag on the reel is very responsive and actually can be adjusted subtly which I have found rare in the sub $50.00 category for rigs. Other than that my kids liked it when I used it to tickle them!

i liked mine, but the thing was always buzzing when i put it in my rod case and the battery would always be dead so i just took it out, but i like the reel and rod combo it works great for pan fish
