Diver decoying location

Recommended Posts

We hunt a point on a small peninsula which is located perfectly on the lake for hunting divers. When facing out away from shore towards your setup, to the right is a 300-foot wide small bay and to your left is the main lake. We always put our diver decoys out on the main lake side because it seems that's where they like to swing the most.

My question is...does anyone hunt a similar point/peninsula situation and do you put your decoys out on the bay side? Would divers swing over to the bay side and come in, or do they like to just swing off points on the main lake side?

Thanks for you comments!

That's actually what we do. Set out about 6 doz. divers on the main lake side then put 2 doz. mallards and 3 doz. goose deeks on the bay side. The lake we hunt offers a variety of waterfowl action on any given day, so it's a basic necessity to set out all different kinds of deeks.

Thanks for the response.

We always set up the divers on the bigwater-mainly cause they will be more visiable out there and it is generally deeper and more natural that the divers would be out there. Then we set up the mallards in the calm bay with a few goose decoys as well.
