AR .223?

Do any of you varmint hunters use an AR style .223? I had the opportunity to use one for a week and couldn't believe the incredible accuracy.

I am looking to purchase one and was wondering if any of you guys use them? If so, what kind do you have and how do you like it.

I don't have one, but my dad, along with 4 or 5 others that hunt coyotes in the group have one. They all have DPMS .223. Do a yahoo search on these guns. I believe they all shoot the Panther Bull Sweet 16. Amazing accuracy.

One thing to keep in mind with the various AR-15 rifles is the rate of twist of the barrel. They range from 1:7 to 1:12. the faster twist is to stabilize heavier match bullets used in long range compitition. Most of the rifles out there are 1:9 which works well with bullets from 40 to 60 grains.

Like most military type rifles the triggers tend to be heavy and have lots of creep. A good trigger really helps on these guns and is a real easy upgrade.

Another bit of advise would be to get a barrel handgaurd that lets the barrel freefloat.
