Anyone with a Clam 6800 - Best method of hauling needed

nluchau

Question

I recently purchased a clam 6800. If you own one how do you like it? Also what is your method of hauling it. Mine fits perfectly between the wheel wells and fills up the floor of the bed front to rear in my ext cab silverado but my main question is since the floor is so flimsy or lightweight, if you put an auger on top of it it caves the house in alittle. My goal is to fit the house, auger, propane tank, and heater in the bed and possibly a bucket with rods in it. HOW??????

Thanks for any replies.

Nick

I fit the auger and propane tanks on the sides of the shack in my F150, between the shack and the box sides. Lighter stuff goes on top.

Hope this helps.

cwmn,

Does your house fit perfectly between the wheel wells? Also does the propane tank and auger you place on the sides somewhat on the house?

that material used to make the floor on the clam should not destruct with you putting an auger on it. as long as you don't put the auger on it while you are storing it at home, you shouldn't have any problems. the time it sits on the house is minimal and shouldn't warrant a $$$$ bill to make storage spot for the back of your truck.

as for the buck and propane cylinder, when you flip the house over to pack away, keep one of your 2 hole spots open (do not put the wood protector on). this should give you plenty of room to put a bucket and your cylinder in there with out spilling out.

Well - I just brought back the house and exchanged it with a Clam 5600 - smaller to fit my needs and also picked up a Strikemaster Mag 2000 auger - both were the same price as I paid for the 6800 nice deal.

Thanks to all who replied with their ideas
