Which Thorne Bros Ice Fishing Rod to Buy?

Hookmaster

Question

I already have two Sweet Thing Pluses and love 'em. I want to get one more that I can use occasionally for walleye (jigging) but also for panfish/perch. I'm trying to decide between the Perch Sweetheart and the Power Noodle. I've seen the comments on the other Thorne Bros. thread and both seem like they would work but any more info would be appreciated.

If you're looking for an all-around walleye/perch/panfish rod then you're going to want to go with the Perch Sweet Heart. The Power Noodle is designed especially for panfish. That doesn't mean you can't use it for perch, but I'd consider it too light for walleyes. You won't get the desired action that you want with the bigger baits if you went with the Power Noodle. The Perch Sweet Heart would be the way to go in my opinion. I use the Perch Sweet Heart for perch, walleyes and pannies on occasion.

Good Fishin,

I agree with Matt here you probably want to go with the Sweetheart Perch if you are looking for a panfish rod that can handle a walleye. I have one of this model and have caught several eyes on it. I don't have one of the their noodle rods but I would image they would get a little flimsy when fishing eyes.
