Muskies in the Red Lake River

Wiskers

Recommended Posts

Well folks.. here is the news.. As of the last few summers we have been getting some real nice Muskies out of the river at Crookston.. 19# - 24#... Two weekends ago I held my Ice Buster Daze event here in town and with 85 contestants and 3 hours of fishing we got 8 muskies.. ????/ GO figure... They must be realy doing well here.. This summer might be a real treat to go hunting for them in the river..

I wonder if those fish are migrating from Pelican and Detroit Lakes.... I believe that those lakes are in the Red River drainage and thought that I read that the DNR was removing barriers between those lakes and the Red to allow Lake Sturgeon to migrate.

This is great news. If muskies are moving around that much, maybe we will have a whole chain of lakes with a fishable population.
