Line Question

I was sorting through my archaic ice fishing gear getting ready for the backwater brawl in a couple weeks and actually found a rod for a spinning reel set up. I don't have a reel for it, but do have a small spinning reel on an ultralight set up that I use during the summer. Can I use regular mono during ice fishing or do I need special line? I'd like to not replace the line for just one outing only to switch over to regular mono again in a couple months.

You can run mono on it. Lots of good lines out there. If your looking to use it again in open water try Trilene XL or XT. Not expensive and great lines.

I use Trilene XL on all my ice rods, and I stick with 4# on all of them. Seems to be a good all around combo(except for those toothy critters ).
