Where's your favorite early pre-season spot to fish??

I'm getting the shakes pretty bad. I'm wondering where people go before the MN bass opener to catch a few. Last year, I went down to Red Wing (Coleville) to try for a few and only caught 1. I also went to Balsam Lake in WI but didn't do so great there either. I'm wondering where everyone else's favorite place to go to find either largemouth or smallies.

I've heard pool 4 is good

There are only a few places to get an early fix on the bass shakes. I like fishing pool 2 because it's in the metro and I've got a few spots that consistantly produce bass - and some nice fish at that. I've also fished Pool 4 in early May. Both can be real good starting in late April into mid-May and are open year round for bass fishing. I even believe their is another post about the possibility of an early season Pool 4, 5, or 6 "Bass Shakes" gathering in April or May. Some wanted March - but that may be pushing it for me...

Okoboji, in nw Iowa. You can fish for bass all year. Ice usually goes out early April, sometimes even earlier. For numbers of largemouth hit the canals. There is also a smallie bite, if you figure it out let me know!
