dooittoit
I was wondering if anyone could point me in a good direction on where abouts are some decent spots on Thompson for fishing. In the past I have just gone to the outside edges of the crowds(without too much luck). I'd rather fish away from them. Any pointers?? Thanks in advance for ANY info. Mike Walerak
Welcome to the site! Thompson can be a little tricky during mid winter, which is one of the reasons I do not frequent it a whole lot after first ice. If walleyes are your target I would pick up a gps map of the lake and try to locate some of the structure that makes this lake the areas top choice for anglers. There are many stock dams scattered along the East side. Most of these hold fish through out the year. Otherwise, the south end is a bit shallower and can be productive for all species. There are scattered trees across the south end that most anglers look for to get the mixed bags. I have heard of a decent bite out ther in shallow water, but that is all I have heard.Again, Welcome to the site!!!! mw
WxMan
As Mike said welcome to the site! The bite has been fairly slow at Thompson of late, but there still is a bite. You need to move around and try to find the fish. Guys of late have had the best luck on the east side of the lake. The shallow water to the south has been pretty slow. If you do fish the south water, fish as close to the heave as you feel comfortable. Hope this helps and if you have any further questions, just let us know and again welcome.Todd Heitkamp
