Did anyone else hear that Mercury Motors has bought the rights to Ranger, Lund and Crestliner? If this is so like I heard that means you no longer can purchase a new boat with anything other than a Mercury Motor on it!

I read that Mercury did buy some boat Manufacturers to add to the ones they already own. The artile stated that Mercury would leave Motor choice up to the purchaser and dealer as they already do with the other brands that they own.

So while you still can purchase your new boat with any other motor Why ould you want to?

Brunswick owns Mercury. Brunswick purchased Lund and Crestliner from Genmar last year. This year a Lund and Crestliner can come from the manufacturer rigged for other motors but that will not be the case next year. An 06' Lund or Crestliner will cost you more to rip out the factory Mercury rigging and add Yamaha, Suzuki, Johnson, Evenrude etc....

Ranger was not part of the deal, just Lund, Crestlier and Lowe.

I own a Lund and may have to look at Alumacraft next year.

Bassman, Brunswick Corp. the company that owns Mercury bought out Crestliner,Lund and Lowe boats last year from Genmar Corp. Genmar sold these companies to only make fiberglass boats. And as far as only getting Mercury on the back of these boats the dealers will order them without the factory rigging.
