The Aqua-Vu scout only has the IR lights.. not the LED lights.. That is one of the main differences between this unit than the more expensive units.. Which means.. IT WILL NOT WORK AS WELL AT NIGHT... To be honest many of the cameras do not work well at night, but the scout works even less...

How do the LED lights work. Are the visible to the fish at night? I would assume so. Then if they are, aren't they considered artificial light and would then be illegal? Or did they change that law and I can now submerse lights?

The Aqua-Vu Scout and the other new cameras with that same style screen are only water resistant. The old style cameras are waterproof. Larger screen and water-resistant or smaller screen and waterproof? I opted for the ZT model because of this. We all know electronics and water don't mix. I think it is better to go with the waterproof. Now if I can only get a perch camera that doesn't leak. I've been through 2 of them so far (both leaked on their first use in less than 20 feet of water) with the third try in a week or so. To find out all the details of the different models, go to their HSOforum.

Using an artificial light to lure or attract fish, or to see fish when

spearing, is unlawful. Exception: While angling, a person may affix to

the end of a fishing line a lighted artificial bait with hooks attached.

Any battery that is used in lighted fishing lures cannot contain any

intentionally introduced mercury.

This makes it sound like the lights are OK, but then in the exceptions, it says that for angling it is ok to have a lighted lure with hooks. But it doesn't say anything about luring, or to see the fish when angling.

It used to be a no-no in MN to use artificial lights. If it's legal to use a camera with lights on it, then it must be legal to use submersible lights to attract baitfish.

It's a close call, but for those of you that use the LED lights may want to run this past a CO to make sure.

Last summer a CO looked really closely at my flourescent tube while I was catfishing, it fit in the bottom of my bait cooler but he warned me not to use it for attracting baitfish.
