Wild Willie
Hope you're pulling out of the state-of-depression I know you are surely in now that the season is over! Too bad you live halfway across the universe or you could join me, Setterguy and Mistermom Friday at Glendorado Shooting Preserve. Thanks again for letting me, Luke and Buddy hunt with you and your magnificent team. I now have a new found appreciation and benchmark of excellence by which I can judge Buddy's progress. kentuck_ike
Wild Willie, you are right about depression!! I spent the last afternoon with just me and the dogs. We went 1 for 1. The best part was I just winged the bird & the dogs tracked about 50 yds in thick brush. What a thrill. I actually thought about taking friday off but I am behind scehdule as it is. We should try to find a preserve south of the cities. Good luck friday & shot one for me. Keep up the good work with Buddy he is really looking good in the field. Wild Willie
Congratulations on the 1-for-1 glad to hear you are finally out of your shooting slump (ha-ha). I went 1-for-1 on Friday as well but it was not much of a shooting challenge as Buddy laid down one of those picture perfect points as the game farm bird held tight until I kicked it to flush. I was proud of myself for actually letting the bird fly about 30 yards before pulling the trigger. You can bet your bottom dollar that I'm either going to get a new gun with choke tubes this summer or invest in a new Remington barrell with Rem-Chokes for my old 1100. Stopped by Gander Mountain yesterday and they had a nice looking used Baretta and Benelli Monte on clearance plus 10% off. I had dreams all night about the Baretta...can't remember the model of the Baretta but it was all tricked-out and in mint condition. I like the way the Baretta shouldered better than the Benelli. The Baretta has a higher vent rib and it came up much like my 1100. When I shouldered the Benelli I was looking down at the ball and a quick adjustment had to be made to get the ball in perfect alignment down the barrell. What I really liked about both was the fact the are both about one pound lighter than what I am currently carrying. Oh well maybe next season. I will be looking for a game farm some where between here and your neck of the woods so we can sneak out and hook-up a couple more times before spring arrives.
