We are going to Glendo this weekend. We have never been there but they say they have safe ice now. Never fished for Walleyes through ice. I would like any thoughts or tips you may have. I understand that most eyes are caaught by the dam.

Thanks

Dave

Ya, its 103 mi north of Cheyene. Sometimes around the dam can be hot, some times not. I have points marked all over Glendo on my GPS. Remember that the water level is continually rising all winter long at Glendo. So on warm days make sure you have a plank to get out on the ice with. I"ve had good luck across from Reno and just south of Reno. Spoons are hot. Tip them with a minnow head. Down size if the bite is slow. Small jigs or spoons tipped with multiple waxes can be hot. Good luck and let me know how it goes. Another reminder, you must perchase any live minnows you are going to use, in Wyoming.Curly's bait in Douglas

Went to Glendo last Sat. We stayed at the H&M Trading Post Bed and Breakfast. (A nice place) Fished up by the dam most of the day and caught 1 eye. The ice was about 6" thick. We got some minnows Sunday and tried Reno. The ice was too thin to the left of the boat ramp so we went to the right about 400 yards. The ice was about 4 to 5" with very soft edges. Caught a couple eyes. Marked fish both days. We tried every thing in the tackle box from angel eyes to TK spoons. The edges were too soft for us the next day so we went to Grayrock. Caught a few channel cats but no walleye. I plan on hitting Grayrock again when there is safer ice and I can fish the river channel. In all we had a lot of fun on very slow fishing days.

The ice fishing in Wyo has been tough recently. Last Friday went to Hawk Springs and fished for about six hours with no takers, only marked a few fish. Fished Sloans in CHeyenne Sunday after the Vikes loss (it was expected) and caught some nice little perch for dinner Sunday night. Went to Glendo Monday and fished to the east of the marina, marked fish in 18-36 feet, but only get several bites (usually when daydreaming) but could not get any to the ice. My son and I had 4 tip-ups each and were jigging 2 lines. Tipups had live minnnows and jigging pimples and angeleyes tipped with minnow heads. It was a beautiful day, not much wind and about 40 degrees. Ice was 4-6 inches thick and for the most part clear. Hope others have had better luck.

These days it's not great for me to admit I'm a Bronco fan either...I guess mediocre wildcard finishes are acceptable...Oh listen to me thats why I love to fish...Fishing is always good even when the catching is not!
