frabillfisher
I havent put much thought into this or looked into it but wondreing if your using a regular mono and your fighting a fish wouldnt your line get all nicekd up from rubbing against the ice and there was a sharp piece?? What would you do just take about 20 feet of every time?
PerchJerker
I check my line all the time and cut off / retie as necessary. With the light line I use for ice fishing, a bigger problem than nicks is twists and stretching.
loebs93
I always check the line after fishing a while. It doesn’t take much for ice, snow or fish teeth to weaken the line. If I notice there are some dents or frayed sections I'll just retie just above it.
andy j
You can always go with a high abrasion resistant ice line like Vanish, it will hold up much better but the trade off is it has more line memory (more coiling) If you are using lighter baits you will need a low memory line to enhance sensitivity.
