2 1/2" ice auger??

I'm looking for about a 2 1/2" ice auger for our sportsman’s club. We aireate a lake and have to post signs, therefore a small hole would be perfect. Any ideas??

Dude... that would have to be one long drill bit by mid january... But not a bad idea!

I dont think they need to go all the way through, just deep enough to put signs up.

Exudedude, this is for early ice only. by State law (and common sense) we have to put out thin ice signs where our system keeps the water open. We have been using a 6" and then packing slush in the hole to keep the signs upright until they freeze in, but a few always tip over. I have a 2 9/16 bit from my plumbing days & I was going to give that a try also. I just threw out this subject to see if anyone had a better idea.

Ahhhhh, ok.. i missunderstood.. I should never have doubted you tom...

I would think a cordless drill with a 2" wood bit would be key.. put the sign in and then fill with water. Done!

talk to a sky resort they use long drill bits to put gates in the snow when racing they would work perfict. they look to be around 2 foot long probably 2 inchis in diameter.

Lot of the resort just use a battery pack drill and a long er thick wood bit. They use tree limbs but signs will fit those holes Im sure. Bring a extra battery just in case.
