I have a 24 volt trolling moter. I do not have an inborad charing sytem and was wondering if there is any reason I have to disconnect the batteries when charging with a battery charger?

It all depends on if the batteries are in series or parrallel. If the batteries are not wired in series then you can charge them with a 12 colt system. If they are in series you need a double bank charging system. good luck
