Park Rapids campground recommendations

Can anyone recommend a nice campground around the Park Rapids area? We don't need a pool or "activities", just a quiet place with decent fishing. I've searched the net but it's nice to hear from folks who've actually been to them.

Thanks.

There are two state forest camps north of Park Rapids, Hungry Men lake and Mantrap. Neither has elctricity. Also north of Park Rapids is Breeze campground, decent, not the most private sites but when we stayed there it wasnt to busy and is next to a nice small golf course. The last one is closer to park on long lake not sure of the name may be long lake campgroun. Have fun and pray for sun.

Have you looked at the web sites for the area. The 2 I know of are Parkrapids.com and Itascaarea.com Look for the links to lodging and camping. There is a lot of variety depending on what you are looking for. Is it tent camping or a spot for an RV.

There is also Itasca State Park. If you look in the MN DNR HSOforum you find the availability of campsites at the park.

There's campgrounds in Menaga and Sebeka, too. We were on our way to Itasca during the July 4 storm that blew through on its way toward the BWCA. We waited out the storm at the Sebeka campground.

We have also stayed at round bay resort on the 3rd crow wing, Campsite #4 is the way to go, nice and big, tucked back in the trees. Only negatives were the swimming beach was rather weedy and there is "supposedly" some rule on the lake about not going over 10 or so mph after 6 or 7 pm. But if you don't have kids and aren't tubing or skiing thats not much of an issue.
