Has the DNR changed the ruling on keeping tourny fish during the summer months?

The DNR has not changed it's positon on walleye tournaments. They do not allow a catch & release walleye tournament between June 1st and Labor Day. You can however apply for a variance for a catch & release during those months. If you are on a large lake and in early June you may get a variance from the Area DNR Supervisor. No chance in July or August for one. The water temp is just to high and the mortality would just to to great.

We donate our walleyes from our "Havest Tournaments" to the non-profit group "Lets Go Fishing". They then hold fish fries at nursing homes.
