mthunter
My brother in law booked us for a week at this place and I was just wondering if anyone has any info about it. It is on the woman river chain and we are staying in their outpost that is 15 miles up the river.
ftyp
Hello mthunter,I have been going to woman river since I was 12 years old.I have fished womman for 15 years and just reciently stopped because it is getting a little popular. When we first started going we stayed at the outpost, with no electricity and holes as big as your leg in the walls. I could tell you some great bear stories, like the one who broke in the door, but loved every minute of it. Are you staying at mike hoffmans outpost on little woman. Hear are some places to try. Go into moshure 1 and right when you come into the lake , on the left side , you will see a rock cut out lick a bowl. If the wind blows into it , fish that. Also - be carefull- but go into moshure three. You will have to dodge beaver ****s but worth the effort. Also see if the outpost has any boats on spot lake. It is a small easy portage, and big small mouth and killer walleye lake. Also if you are going down steam, at the end of little woman you will see some rocks on your right side. With the water up I am not sure if they will be sticking out of the water. But that is a great spot too.Hope this helps ya.
mthunter
Thanks for the information I will be sure to try those spots. Yes we are staying at mike hoffmans outpost, it has supposedly been redone if I remember correctly. You say its getting to popular up there, does that mean I should expect quit a bit of company on the lakes? Thanks again for the help.

DickUrban
Our group stayed at Canada North Lodge's main location 4 years ago. Cabins are great, as is the outpost cabin. Meals at the main lodge are excellent as well as the guides and boats. Fishing was ok but not as good as the fly-ins where we prefer to go. Mike Hoffman is a great host. I'd strongly suggest you hire a guide at least for the first day or two. You should look at the HSOforum for Canada North Lodge - very extensive.[This message has been edited by DickUrban (edited 06-26-2004).]
mthunter
Thanks for the info Dick, how far up the river system did you fish? I have been looking at the HSOforum and it is very informative. Now does anyone know where I can get a list of what I can't bring accross the border as far as food goes? Thanks again.
DickUrban
We stayed on Little Bear at the south end and fished as far north as the south end of Big Woman - which I think is the 6th lake north. Just south of Big Woman is Little Woman, where the outpost is located. We visited the guys in the outpost and it's a good facility. If you do not hire a guide, one of the guides will take you to the outpost and then you are on your own. I'd encourage you to hire one of their guides. There is lots and lots of water.I have read on this forum that you cannot take fresh potatoes and there is a fresh meat limit of 11 pounds per person - I can't personally verify that. I'm sure you already know - no drugs or weapons or radar detectors. Limit one case of beer peer adult. Owner of the vehicle should get a Canada Non-Resident Inter-Province Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Card from their car insurance agent. Each person should have a passport or certified copy of their birth certificate as well as a picture ID (like a driver's license). Catch a big One![This message has been edited by DickUrban (edited 06-27-2004).]
