backlash 1
Just a little heads up for anyone going to Canada in the near future; They are spot checking for meat coming back into the U.S.We just came back from a fly in on tuesday, and coming across the border at Baudette, an inspector hand counted our fish, looked in another cooler of ours that had frozen steak, venison sausage and brats that we had not eaten and he told us he was supposed to confiscate them. He said until the ban is over with any meat brought into canada, and not used, must have a butcher shop stamp showing what it is and that it came from the U.S., or they will not allow it back into the U.S.They must be just spot checking because just a week earlier we were coming back from fishing in the northwest angle, and at the Warroad border station they didn't say anything at all about our leftover meat.Moral of the story: if you take any home packaged meat to canada, eat it up while you're there, or be prepared to maybe loose it on the way back.
