Bright Sand River-North of Upsala/Graham

Recommended Posts

I am taking my 2 sons and a friend to fish the Bright Sand River system north of Upsala and Graham on the Graham Trail.

Any FM'rs been up this way? Any suggestions or hints? Secret spots?

We are leaving on Memorial Day for 1 Week. We are camping just South of where the Bright Sand River cuts the Graham Trail...Below Bright Sand Lake.

Practice CPR...Catch, Photo, Realease. Unless you pickle a small northern of course.

Been up the Grahm Rd. many times. BE CAREFUL! The logging truck traffic is fast and dangerous and the road can be nice and sudddenly turn bad in spots. Haven't fished Bright Sands, but I've fished Wawang and the surrounding lakes with great success. have fun, it is a beautiful area.

When ae you going up? I will be up there with a group of 11 on July 3-9. It is beaitiful up there. It is a little wild in the bush, but some of those fish are dying of old age. We will be fishing pakashkan this year, but we used to go quite a bit further down graham road. I fished 3 other lakes and loved each one for different reasons, but my old man wants a cabin and a shower nowadays. Feel free to e-mail me for some directions. I would love to hear if you have had some luck in different lakes as well. [email protected] Good luck.

If you are staying at Pakashkan Lake Lodge I would be interested in what you thought of the place. Our group of 25 camped on the NW end of the lake last week and had good weather and fishing. Am interested in bringing the family up sometime and figure they would prefer the Lodge.

Snag Happy. My dad and I stayed there last year and really enjoyed ourselves. We have been camping off of the Graham road for the last 10 years and always had good luck, but last year my dad said he would like a seat and a shower. Now we are pretty much locked in. The owners run a good resort and you can not beat the price. I would love to chat with you about how you did fishing. We leave in 9 days. Can't wait. Any trophies? [email protected]

I just returned from the Graham area, water levels were 4ft higher than normal. Fishing was good. A lot of eye's in the 20"- 22" range, with the largest at 28". Northerns were a little tougher but once we found them in the shallow grass, lots of fish, largest 44".

Hey guys,

I've been up the Graham road many times but not in the last five years. Someone told me you couldn't use the road to access Bright Sands anymore due to some piece of legislation the fly-in resorts pushed through. We were going up to Wapikamaski seven years ago and there was a sign that roughly stated; 'Any use of this road to access Lake Wapikamski is prohibited'. Ive heard that the road is posted further south now as well. Any info would be great. As far as hotspots, it's all pretty good for walleyes. Especially below any rapids.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
