Trout report 39 trout nestor falls

Recommended Posts

Animal,Fished Lake trout Sat and Sun,Used the public landing sat then cut are driving time on the lake and went out of Muskie Bay resort. Snow depth 12 to 15 inches and was snowing Sun when we left, travel on crow and other lakes was great snow depth made for smooth riding with sleds we did hit areas of slush with no problems. Ice was 12inches to as little as 6 inches where current was moving. Fishing was great we ended up with 39 trout and the size was from 4 to 10 lbs average I would say was 6 to 7 lbs. Bait we used fat heads and the best lure was white tube power bait on a jig, and a white kastmaster with red rainbow back side, we fished only two points off islands, didnt have to move all over. The second move we made the trout were very aggressive, they would come so fast you never saw them on the vex, most fish came right off the bottom and a few 20 feet up. We traveled 30 miles one way to our spot. Sat night we hit fog, and got lost with no compass, bring a compass if you travel after dark. I discovered a trick which really worked I would open my bail and drop my bait to the bottom and leave it the trout would pick it off the bottom good set up for a second line. We didnt bring ciscos but I bet it would work great on the bottom. Had one trout off the bottom that was gut hooked in 55 ft of water and it tangled up in my buddies line He starts yelling I have the big trout, had to cut the line to let it go, best depth 50 to 55 feet. Have some nice photos if someone can post them. Measured two trout at the resort one 29 inches and 27 Inches. Hope you have a great trip

I heard about the fog. I guess it suprised everyone. We run with 4 gps units so someone will have one that is working. As far as a compas I never leave home without one. Are the trees on Crow that marks the trail to the Camron portage? It will be colder this weekend, so fog shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the info.

You would think from the snowmobile adventure I had with Tommy that you would have learned by now, ya rookie. Sounds like the fishing was fun. I got your email. I'll tell you how to resize the pictures, but I don't think you can post them here. I could set you up with an account at hunt101.com so you can upload your pictures and then you can give people the address where they can see your pictures or whatever.

OK fishnut,

Thanks for the info. I think we're headed to Whitefish Bay this weekend if the weather's not too extreme. We got some of the 4 inchers, but they seemed awfully big. Just checking.

Thanks again.
