Colorado is one them places where there is too many other things to do-golf,skiing,hiking,whatever,all the sports teams. I'm thinkin places like Minnesota really have nothin else to do -its cold ,wet, and dreary all the time.(in winter)Out there its a lifestyle thing-I would fit right in cause I fish 90-100 days a year. Its the maximum I can do and still stay married!

Slayer, if you can get 90 -100 days of fishing in a year , you've definately married the right woman! I was on this site last year and the responses are fairly limited. Spread the word, lets get it going!

i have iced at chatty a few times a year, i live really close. it hasnt sheeted the last 2 years or maybe 3 so you have to go by the inlet which is probably my least productive area, but its better than sittin at home when you have to get out for a few hours. again, minnows are best bet, some guys swear by the jigging spoon but i havent got too much confidence in that yet.

Avalanche:

Stagecoach is one of my old haunts! I was a park ranger there for a summer and I taught in Oak Creek for two years. I was on the lake when one of the first northerns was caught. Some say they were illegally planted... No matter what ou are the real deal when it comes to big pike! My "big" pike would have been a morsel for that beast. I'd love to hook up and learn a few of your secrets. Bring on the ice!

What do you mean, it's cold and dreary all winter? We fish, ski, board, AND golf in the winter! If you've never golfed in the winter, you've never lived. Also, we don't have to worry about impassible mountain raods (for the most part) or avalanches.

I'm getting that Northern Fever too. Actually I bought a house in May that backs to Quincy Reservoir in Aurora. So I can fish every day for my 50 inch tiger. Since Quincy closed, I've been reduced to fishing on the weekends for northerns looking to fatten up for the winter. Since from now till after spawn is the best time for the 50 inch egg filled monster water wolf.

Glad to see this site is finally heating up. The cold, snow and clouds should go along ways in icing up the high country. I'd bet Lake John is close by next weekend. We pretty much busted at John last year, so will be interested to see if it bounces back this year.
Lucky7: Stagecoach is also one of our favorite lakes. I remember years ago when we started busting fish off. We thought the trout were really huge. Then the park ranger told us it was most likely Pike. Some real monsters in there.
Anyway spread to word about this site. The more posts the better.

Just got in from a pre-holiday function in C.Springs and it's cold and icy! Hopefully that means lakes and reservoirs will be getting that lid of hardwater anyday now! Tightlines to all!!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
