Rick thanks for combining the forums. The Minn site is awesome. Usually, the high country lakes are not safe until Dec 1 or after. Lake John by Walden is sometimes ready by Thanksgiving. Let's get this site red hot!

great to conect with colorado I live in northeast MN, and I own 70 acres west of walsenburg CO. I head down as often as I can. I have fished Trinidad res with alot of luck on all species (esp white bass hybrids)
I ve also fished alot on the little lakes and creeks along hwy 12 tons of brookies and planted rainbows! always looking for an excuse to head down that way. Hope this site gets alot of attention!

Great memories of Colorado. Lived at 10,000 feet for a year outside Victor, near Cripple Creek, in the late 80s and worked for a gold mine.

Fished stocked rainbows in a reservoir outside Victor (the name escapes me) and brookies in the creek flowing from the dam. Always wanted to get to 11-mile reservoir for trout and those monster pike, but ran out of time.

Elk, deer, squirrel, rabbit and trout in the freezer instead of beef, pork and chicken. The smell of a good hot fire in the airtight woodstove in the morning. Pike's Peak behind our house, the low country on the other side and the Sangre de Cristos looming 80 miles away with the sun rising red on the snow-covered peaks. So many times I wish I hadn't left.

I hear Cripple Creek has turned into casino city. Maybe I'm best out of there after all. Sure miss the hunting/fishing the high country.

Anyway, welcome Colorado with your own post to FM, and thanks again Rick for expanding your horizons and bringing back old memories.

Steve,
That was probably Skagway reservoir.
Hope this site takes off. DOW is sure not doing a good job here. Might see if my sled will start and go up to Jefferson this weekend. If anyone else is going up let me know.Everyone be safe out there on first ice! GOOD LUCK,
Dan

Nice to see a Colorado Forum. Had to pull the ice gear out of storage with the recent cold weather but I am wondering how the super low water levels are going to effect fishing this year and in the next few years to come...

Ice cube, good point. It may be the season to lighten the gear bag a little...nah. My last time at Granby in my boat, we motored over lots of water that was 40'. I heard Williams Fork res is still going down as of last weekend. Some buddies had fun getting stuck in the snow and mud.

bry, I was told Granby's water level is down 65ft.this year, I usually would fish in the 65ft range for the lakers. That means the people that usually fish Granby will be doing alot of walking just to get to deep water, time to buy a snowmobile I guess.Haven't heard about the other Mtn.lakes.

Good Fishin
