bears?

My buddy got back from bear hunting in park rapids and he shot a 436 lb bear, dressed. from what i know about bear hunting and that is not much that is a huge bear for minnesota. What else did every one else shoot and do you have any stories about big bears.

I shot my first bear on opening day. It wasn't huge but I am very happy with it. I shot it with my bow at about 12 yards. I had passed on a small one early in the day but I couldn't stand the excitment anymore so I shot the second one. I know there are bigger one out there but it was my first bear. When I get my license again in five years I'll wait for a bigger one. My buddy is still out
there hunting, he just hasn't had a shot yet. No worrys though, he still has time.

I'm no expert, but have bear hunted in zone 31 three times in the past few years. Yes, that would be an enormous Minnesota black bear! Largest I've taken dressed at 236 lbs. and I thought it was big when I shot it. I'd love to see pictures if you've got any.

I took a 230 pound sow on opening day, my partner shot a smaller boar the next night. We had all of our bait stations consistently demolished, but we didn't have a ton of time to actually hunt so we weren't terribly picky. Neither of us had ever taken a bear before so we were pretty fired up. I hung my portable above him (in the same tree) that second night and caught his entire hunt on video. Pretty neat.
